FREE Copywriting Services for Women Entrepreneurs!

by Julie Barnes

Great headline…right?

Did it suck you in to read further?

Awesome!

Then I got your attention, didn’t I?

That’s the number one function that your headline should perform… to get the attention of your target market!

In today’s article, I’ll be discussing the four functions that YOUR headline performs. I bet you didn’t realize your headline was so busy. :)

1.       Get attention – Remember that your target market is always thinking, “what’s in it for me”, so for example, in this article…I used FREE in the headline. The target market is going to read the FREE and subconsciously think…I’m getting something for FREE.

2.       Target market Who is the target market of your product or service? Use them in the headline. For example, in the headline of this article, I used Women Entrepreneurs as the target market. The headline also screens the readers… letting them know that the FREE copywriting services are for Women Entrepreneurs ONLY!

3.       Complete message – Since we currently live in an ADHD environment, with our smart phones going off with emails and text…Twitter with their 140 characters…and Facebook updates. Your target market is constantly being interrupted. Keep in mind that your target market may be a “scanning” reader that only reads what grabs their attention. So use your headline to deliver a complete message. Again, using the headline of this article, it states a complete message…FREE Copywriting Services for Women Entrepreneurs.

4.       Attract your reader – The goal of the headline is to draw your target market in to read your article or advertisement… to peak their curiosity. A great way to do this is to ask a question… like I did you.  I ask you…my reader…

·         Great headline…right?
·         Did it suck you in to read further?

Remember, great headlines do more than get your target markets attention. It draws them in… to learn more about your product or service.

When Are Seminars and Workshops Worth the Price??

by Miata Edoga

When asked by Kiplinger about financial planning for individuals, President Obama recently said, "Spend on things that are going to increase your productivity and your income over the long term." I agree with this sentiment. I get excited about purchasing items and services that can multiply the amount I'll earn over the course of my career. It's money well spent. Abundance Bound is built on the philosophy that knowledge increases your wealth.

I mention this quote because in the mail I recently received a workshop flier. It was the third piece that week. If I went to every great-sounding workshop, I'd never work. Auditions and client needs would be out the window. I'd spend all my time in class.

So I thought about the President's financial advice and wondered, "Where is the crossover point that education no longer matters?" Sure, I can always use another workshop which increases my skills, but as a person with limited time, when is the quest for additional information trumped by using the skills I've already acquired?

From a purely financial perspective, there is a simple equation you can use to answer this question. If your goal is to earn more, you'll solve the problem by asking a simple question:

How long after the workshop will I have to work to see a return justifying the cost?

There are only two factors at work here. First, you need to calculate the value of the workshop. It should be easy to determine whether a class will help you earn more money. You should intimately know your skill set and be able to determine which seminars will broaden your ability to create income. I use the words "should know," because I always seem to meet a person in a workshop who is clearly already a master of the subject matter. Sometimes we attend a workshop because psychologically it makes us feel good. Although it's good to feel masterful, it's generally advisable to avoid workshops that won't broaden your repertoire.

The second factor is, of course, money. How much does the seminar cost? That number is easily obtainable and from there, it'll be easy to either justify the time spent or take a pass on the opportunity.

There are ways to make it worthwhile to attend more workshops. What if you could increase the value and lower the price of the seminar?

Obtaining more value isn't difficult. Develop a study group with other participants and share knowledge. Listen to podcasts or read books on the same material to cement your learning. Use the subject matter immediately to internalize newly-acquired habits.

It's also easy--but less well known--to lower the cost of some workshops and continued education. Here are a few. Because they're not as familiar to many people, I've bullet-pointed them for you:

*Write off the training. The IRS allows business owners to deduct training that is a part of your job and not covered by an employer. Not only may you deduct the actual fees, but also ancillary costs, such as mileage, lodging and food.

*Find grants. Many workshop programs offer funds to qualified individuals who don't have the financial resources to afford a class. Ask the firm giving the workshop about these; often they'll have leads. If you're a member of a related organization, ask if they give discounts to members attending training.

*Save effectively. If you can't take the training now but need to build funds, save efficiently. A 529 plan is often referred to as a college savings plan, but invested funds may be used for any accredited higher learning institution. Make sure the training is offered by an accredited firm and you could save the money to attend your classes tax free.

*Explore tax credits. If your classes are offered as part of an undergraduate degree curriculum, you may be eligible for the American Opportunity Credit. This credit covers $2,500 of the first $4,000 of qualifying undergraduate expenses. If your class isn't part of a formal degree program, you still may be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit, which is available to a wide range of students. The IRS recommends you ask the institution providing education if your workshop would qualify for these credits.

By increasing the value and lowing the cost of a workshop, it makes the time spent honing your craft easier to stomach. Instead of skipping an important seminar, you could pick up the skills to both increase your productivity and income in the future.

Top 3 Ingredients for Effective Copy

by Julie Barnes

Copywriting is like making a cake. If you miss an ingredient, then the cake ends up tasting, well… like crap. It’s the same with copywriting. If you leave out one of the important ingredients, then your copy will sound like...yes, like crap.
So, in today’s article…I’ll be discussing the top three ingredients that YOU need for effective copy.

1.    Clear – Write in a clear and accurate tone. Don’t try to be funny, lyrical or too creative. You want your target market to understand your product or service’s features and to “feel” the benefits from using your product or service.

2.    Complete – Brainstorm questions that your target market may have about your product or service and answer these in your copy. You want to provide them with complete information, so that they have everything needed to make a decision or to take the next step. Remember, a confused prospect does nothing.

3.    Conversational – Write to your prospect in YOUR voice. Hold a conversation with them. This builds rapport with your prospect. You want your copy to read as if you’re talking to them in person. I know writing conversationally seems wrong, since it goes against what we learned in English class. You’ll want to learn everything you can about your target market, so you’ll know how to reach them through your writing. Don’t talk down or over their heads.
There you have it – the top three ingredients for effective copy. Have you missed an ingredient?

Why Start-ups and Freelancers are Choosing to Rent Desk Space

by Chris Marling

While recent tough economic times have led to hardships for many, they have also inevitably led to opportunities. Two of the results - a rise in freelancers and home workers, plus company downsizing - have gone hand-in-hand to create a boom in desk space rental.

Working from home suits some perfectly, but others really struggle to come to terms with it. There are distractions, both good and bad - on one side are domestic chores, the other domestic pleasures. Whether it's a nice long soak and a bit of daytime TV, or the gardening or washing up, distractions are everywhere. Getting out of the home and back into an office can be a real boost to productivity.

However, then you remember the bad sides of the office; the power struggles, the posturing, or the gossip and rumour mills - exactly what makes many step gladly away from the big, or even medium sized company set-up to go it alone.

Renting desk space can offer the perfect place between these two extremes. First, desk rental contracts tend to be short - often monthly rolling - so if you don't settle in, or need to expand, you're not going to have any issues. If all those office nightmares resurface, just head back home or find another location. This is also easier because you're not having to provide furniture either - a desk, chair and other basics will normally be provided for you (if you need them).

In a similar way, management of the office is also taken out of your hands. Sure, you'll pay a little extra each month for the privilege, but with decisions about everything from utilities to décor out of your hands, you can concentrate on what's most important: your business ideas.

And it's here that being back in an office can really pay dividends. If you're renting desks, you're likely to be in an office where others are doing the same - while whoever is renting them is likely to be used to (and enjoy) the positive energy the environment tends to create. 'Deskers', as they're often known, tend to be a creative and interesting bunch. You'll have new people to bounce ideas off of, banter with, even become close too. They can be a real source of inspiration.

At the same time, those renting the desks around you may also have skills that you can put to your own advantage. Need a website for your company? We'll there's a web designer sitting by the window - and over in the corner is a PR start-up looking for new customers. And who knows - some more business may come back your way too.

When it comes down to it, only you can judge if a move into a shared office is the right move for you. But the evidence in the UK is that more and more small businesses, freelancers and start-ups are doing so, and feeling the benefit.

About the author: Chris Marling writes on behalf of officegenie.co.uk, the UK's first proper online marketplace for desk space and shared office space.

5 Best Strategies to Enhance Your Twitter Profile and Get New Followers

by Donna Gunter

Twitter took the world by storm last year.  I predict this year many business owners will drop out of the Twitter stream because they’re not seeing a valuable ROI for their business in return for the time invested in marketing on Twitter.

This comes, in large part, to not maximizing your Twitter profile when setting up your Twitter account.  Because Twitter doesn’t offer many options when a user creates a profile, most people put little thought into that process.

Here are 5 strategies you can use today to beef up your Twitter profile:

1.  Your Bio:
You have only 160 characters to describe yourself, so make those count.  Business owners should incorporate their most important keywords in their profile — keywords by which your target market would use to find you.   Also include your business tagline, or provide some information about why others would want to follow you.

2.  Your URL:  If you have a longer URL, delete the www and just include http://yourwebsite.com. Rather than linking to your business web site, you might try linking to a social network landing page, or aggregator site, that lists the links to your various social networking profiles and to your various web sites.

3.  Your Photo:
To start a visitor on the like, know and trust journey of building a relationship with you, it’s important that that person see your smiling face, not an avatar.  Use a current photo of you as your Twitter profile photo rather than an avatar, a picture of your pet, or a photo of you as a child.

4.  Your Background:  A custom Twitter background makes a visitor more likely to follow you. On this background you can note what you do, your free giveaway, and your primary web site URL. Include any info and graphics that your Twitter profile doesn’t let you include in the limited profile options.

5.  Your favorites:  Whenever you’re mentioned in someone’s tweet or whenever someone retweets your Tweet, save them in Your Favorites.  Simply go to the post that you want to save, and click on the Favorite link underneath the Tweet.

Take Action Strategy

Even though you take care to set up a great profile, Twitter is all about networking and providing great content to showcase your expertise.  Without Tweets that are helpful to your target market,  a great Twitter profile will wither away.  Make sure you stay relevant and useful to your followers by keeping your Tweets current, useful, and engaging.

What's In Your Purse? 10 Feng Shui Wealth-Producing Tips for Handbags

by Kathryn Weber

It's an indispensable tool, a valuable fashion asset and a source of all manner of important things like breath mints, a safety pin to fix a broken zipper, or keys to entertain a toddler. A woman's purse is a collector of things - and sometimes those things are downright unhealthful.

According to recent studies, a woman's purse ranks as one of the top ten germiest items we come in contact with on a regular basis. Ironically, a woman's handbag is also the place where she carries her wealth and financial power.

Is your purse a symbol of wealth or is it a danger to your health? Maybe it's a little of both.

Interestingly, for women, a purse is often a symbol of the self. An attractive, organized purse makes us feel better and more in control of our lives. When our purses are a mess and we can't find anything, we feel lost and our bank accounts often reflect that scattered state.

Simply put, a purse with good feng shui is a purse that is organized, a handy resource, and supports its principal purpose: holding your money and financial wherewithal.

Read these tips to get your purse in tip top feng shui shape.

1. Elevate your purse.
You'd never see a man put his wallet on the floor, yet women put their purses on the floor all the time - in the restroom, at restaurants, at work. Always keep your purse elevated and off the floor. And never, ever, put it on the floor of the restroom. Hang it on a door hinge or the corner of the door. A great idea is to buy a purse hanger for those times when you want to put your purse down, but not on a floor.

2. Keep it clean.
Resist the temptation to throw gum or food wrappers, bits of paper or used tissues into your purse. What does it say when you carry trash in the same place as your money? Garbage should go in a trashcan and never into a purse.

3. Mind the change.
Avoid throwing change into your purse where it will fall to the bottom of the bag. This is disrespectful to money. If it's too inconvenient to put change into a zippered coin compartment in your wallet, buy an old fashioned coinpurse that makes collecting change easy - and getting it out for tolls or parking meters -- convenient too.

4. Be prepared.
Carry a small safety pin, a tiny container of dental floss, a small notepad with pen, a small pocketknife, highlighter pen and bottle of eye drops. Little items that make your purse a point of refuge in the world make you love your purse even more. Better still, when someone has a broken zipper they will forever remember you and your purse of wonders! Lastly, carry a $100 bill, but don't spend it. Having a purse (and some cash) at the ready helps you be prepared for financial surprises.

5. Activate your purse.
If you see pretty hanging Chinese ornaments or tassels put some of these on your purse. These hangers are great for pumping up the feng shui volume of your purse and activating it for wealth. Choose hangers that appeal to you and that look especially pretty and coordinated. Yes, pretty is good feng shui!

6. Buy thoughtfully.
Like a bra, never buy a purse just for the fashion name or for how it looks. Make sure the purse hangs on your shoulder comfortably, and like a good bra, stays there. Even better, find a purse with enough compartments to hold small items like pens, your cell phone, and other items you need to get to quickly. Make sure you can easily close your purse for security sake, that you can find what you need and that the purse is working for you, not the other way around.

7. Use a key keeper.
These small hooks fit onto your purse and keep you from fishing around for your keys, which can endanger you if you're trying to find them at night in an empty parking lot. By hanging on the edge of your purse, you can access your keys faster and more easily. This says you can find you way financially too.

8. Avoid wallet clutter.
Get a wallet that helps you stay organized with your money. Your money should be easily arranged, not rammed into a wad, and your credit cards should be easily accessed. Also, have only as many credit cards as you absolutely need. Too many credit cards becomes a financial trap, a credit score nightmare, and, well, clutter. When the clerks ask if you want one of the store-name-credit cards, tell them "No thanks; I'm cutting down on wallet clutter." Who can argue with that?

9. Buy a purse in your personal wealth color.
Selecting a purse in a color that resonates with  your personal wealth energy will help stimulate your wealth and money-making opportunities. If you don't want to buy a purse in your personal wealth colors, other good options include red, metallic, white, black, and blue. Greens are also fine and a nice choice in 2010. The best choice for the year? Blue.

10. Pursue love.
The No. 1 feng shui rule for your purse? Don't buy it unless you absolutely love it - and then treat it that way. Keep it clean, organized, and off the floor. Your money mojo will be activated and you'll have more to spend and save. Show some purse love!

So, how do you start using these success traits in your life? It may seem difficult at first to adjust to a new way of thinking, but like anything it will take practice. You have to be willing to keep going even when things seem difficult or you have no visible evidence that there are any changes happening. This is what separates those who are successful from those who spend their lives dreaming about it.

Begin by sitting in a quiet place and closing your eyes. Set aside time for yourself so that you can go within and really visualize your dream.

Picture your ideal career, job, business, love, new home…put yourself in the middle of it. Engage all of your senses, not just seeing but tasting, feeling, smelling—all of your senses. Allow yourself to experience everything without judgment. Don’t think about whether this is really possible, or criticize yourself for having these desires.

Just let the pictures unfold and accept that this is what you really want. Start off with five minutes, then 10, then 15 minutes at a time. Do this everyday. Once you have the vision defined, get a notebook and write down what you’re seeing and feeling. Pretend it’s one year in the future and you’re writing about what has happened now that your vision has become real. Describe the entire experience as though you were writing to a friend about how things are now that you are living this ideal life.

If you ever have cause to doubt, go back to your letter and reread it. Feel free to tweak it and make changes if you desire. It is perfectly normal to find that your original thoughts give way to something else once you allow yourself to dream. It’s like peeling away layers—you go you may find there are desires that you had no idea were hidden there.

Be honest with yourself about what it is you want., otherwise, you’ll have conflicting desires and your results will be just as conflicted.

“What people say you cannot do, you try and find that you can.” -Henry David Thoreau

Energy Flows Where Concentration Goes

by Jackie Lapin

Gerry Roberts, author of The Millionaire Mindset, reminds us that Energy Flows Where Concentration Goes.

It’s such a short, simple statement with such huge implications.

As we live each day, worrying about various matters in our lives—our finances, our relationships, our work, our self-image, our expectations, our fears and our failures—we frequently forget that by virtue of law of attraction, whatever we focus on manifests.

So what have you been thinking about today?

That’s a chilling question, isn’t it?

Where have your thoughts been wandering? What energy have you been directing and where? You know what in the deepest recesses of your mind has been engaging your attention. How much of that is uplifting, positive, visionary, joyful, hopeful and optimistic?

How much of it is expended toward belief in your success, confidence in your attainment of what you desire, wonder at the beauty around you or gratitude for whatever abundance that you currently have?

Whoops, did I catch you squandering your fabulous, powerful, remarkable energy on the wrong stuff?

So how do we make the unconscious conscious, and consistently point our energy toward that which we truly want to grow and expand?

Here are some helpful hints for habit change:

    * Create reminder systems. Put this phase on your screen saver—What are you thinking about right now? Send yourself hourly reminders on your cell phone. Tape those words on your computer screen frame, on your mirrors, on the doors of your house where you enter and exit. And especially, put them on your refrigerator!

    * Ask your partner or a close friend to remind you to check your negative concentration when you are lamenting anything about your life or expressing fear about the future. In fact, you can also perform this service for your friend in exchange.

    * Wherever you deal with or touch money (bill file, wallet, checks, checkbook, ATM card) put a sticker or note that is a reminder about how blessed and joyful you are to have this money, how you see it growing.

    * Set an intention before going to bed each night and upon awakening each day to shift your concentration to positive, expansive thoughts that will lead to abundance, blessings and growth.

    * Secure some audio recordings of guided visualization that will inspire you and keep you focused on positive goals, visions and desires for at least a half hour daily.

    * Tune into other people’s negative talk, and then quickly check in with yourself to see if you’re doing the same thing. Shift if you are. Becoming conscious of other people’s bad habits will remind you how unattractive and counterproductive it is when you do it. It’s very consciousness-raising.

    * Journal daily. When you have a negative thought, jot it down. Then put the positive counter-thought on paper. Do this throughout the day until you start to have more positive thoughts than negative ones and eventually, your journal outlives its usefulness as a tool for catching you in the act.

    * Hide reminders in your underwear drawer, in your file cabinet, in your car, in your briefcase, in your workout bag… What are you thinking about right now?

    * Give yourself a “Happy Hour” each day, where you simply think happy, aspirational thoughts. It’s much better than spending “happy hour” at local tavern! A great time to do this is during meditation, while exercising or out in nature.

Your attention and concentration are precious. They are not to be wasted on unconscious creations that lower the quality of life. Put them to good use where they belong!
