What Makes Your Heart Sing?

by Mariana M. Cooper

From the time we are very young - finding our passion is a theme that is found in most peoples lives.

As babies, parents attempt to instill their passions in their children by dressing them in baseball uniforms with emblems of their favorite teams, ballet costumes etc hoping that the child will take on the love of their parents interests.

"What are you going to be when you grow up?" Is probably one of the most asked questions of kids and teens alike. And much to our surprise, that question comes up for adults even more! It may be in a slightly different form but with the same undertones. We ponder:

What is my passion?
Why am I here?
How can I contribute something great to the world?
Whats my purpose?
What can I give back to the world?

Before we can truly be successful the answer to the "What am I most passionate about?" question must be answered. Because if we pursue something that we are not passionate about it created so much imbalance and strain that we can never truly be fulfilled.

We may make money but eventually it will stop if the underlying joy is missing.

So how do you find your passion? Here are 3 simple ways to get some insight on what it is:

1. Think back to what you most enjoyed when you were a child. Your most favorite childhood memory. What were you doing?

It is very rare to be passionate about something that have never tried or had a keen interest in before. I started dancing when I was 3 and rode my first horse when I was 6. By the time I was 15 I was coaching and teaching riding, inspiring my students to be all they could be. My core passions began to emerge very early on.

2. Take note of what your friends, family and acquaintances come to you for advice for the most. Are you the go to person for problem solving? Relationship advice? Cooking advice? Accounting? The best vacation spots? Interior decorating advice or fashion sense?

This is a true indication of your natural passion and thetalents, that people would come to you for. With some organization, a business spin and focus these same people (or those with similar profiles) could also become the ideal target clientswho would pay for your services!

3. What magazines, TV shows, films, blogs, websites  you most drawn to? Basically what would you be doing if money were no object? What would you actually consider doing even if you were not getting paid?

The answers found here can give you a great indication of what makes your heart sing!

4 . You know what you love also by how your body feels as you do it.
You are on the right track when you feel:
* Joy
* Lighthearted
* Excited
* Time seems to stand still
* You want to share what you are doing

The Aha! Prescription for This Week:
Action + Attraction = Your Aha! Moment

The  Aha! Action:

Take an inventory of your life and make a list of what you most like to do. Look back to your childhood as well for clues.

Make a list! If you get stuck make a list of the things that you know you don't like to do! Then write out the opposite. You will definitely see a pattern! Once you have the list move on the Attraction part of our prescription.

The  Aha! Attraction:

Putting positive energy toward everything you do is far more important than the mechanics which will always work themselves out with the right energy in place.

Get quiet for 1 - 5 minutes and ask yourself: What truly makes my heart sing?What is my passion? What passion do I have that I could share with the world?

Make sure to have your journal handy to record insights that you get. And remember the insights may come to you later in the day, in a dream or as a series of synchronistic signs to let you know you are on the right path!

Put these easy steps into action and you will be well on your way to finding your Passion!

And Remember to Always Trust your Aha!
